ONE SEED AT A TIME
A silent revolution is unfolding in the agriculturally distressed regions of Maharashtra, India. Through the film, women are saying that if we practice agroecology-based farming, we will get diverse food, save on cultivation costs, have healthier soil, and importantly women will be valued and recognised for their diverse knowledge systems. This will help counter the damage done by conventional mono-cropping farming and challenge the oppressive structures of caste, patriarchy, and other forms of discrimination. |

सदरील माहितीपट ”Towards Brown Gold: Reimagining Off-grid Sanitation in Rapidly Urbanizing Areas in Asia and Africa” या प्रकल्पा अंतर्गत इन्स्टीट्युट ऑफ डेव्हलपमेंट स्टडीज,UK यांच्या सहकार्याने सोपेकॉम संस्थेने बनविला आहे. सोपेकॉम संस्थेने २०२१ ते २०२४ या कालावधीत महाराष्ट्रातील नांदेड वाघाळा महानगर पालिका क्षेत्रात वंचितांच्या अनुभवांवर लक्ष केंद्रित करून स्वच्छतेच्या सोयींच्या उपलब्धतेचा अभ्यास केला आहे. सदर माहितीपटातून स्वच्छता कामगारांची आव्हानात्मक परिस्थिती आणि अपुऱ्या पायाभूत संसाधनामुळे त्यांना सहन करावा लागणारा अतिरिक्त भार यावर प्रकाश टाकला आहे.
SOPPECOM prepared this video as part of the project titled; Towards Brown Gold: Reimagining Off-grid Sanitation in Rapidly Urbanizing Areas in Asia and Africa; with support from the Institute of Development Studies, UK. Between 2021 and 2024, SOPPECOM examined sanitation access in Nanded Waghala Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra, focusing on experiences of marginalized. This short documentary highlights the challenging conditions faced by sanitation workers and the additional burdens they endure due to inadequate infrastructure.

SOPPECOM आणि Women’s Fund Asia यांच्या सहकार्याने बीड आणि हिंगोली जिल्ह्यांतील ऊसतोड कामगार महिलांचा क्षमता बांधणी प्रकल्प राबविला जात आहे. प्रकल्पा अंतर्गत सदर माहितीपट निर्मिती केली आहे. ऊसतोड महिला कामगारांनी ऊसाच्या फडावर येणारे विविध अनुभव सांगितले आहेत. त्यांचा त्रास, त्यांच्या समस्या आणि मागण्या ह्या व्हिडीओच्या माध्यमातून सांगण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे. विशेष म्हणजे, ह्या व्हिडीओचे फुटेज आणि फोटोज स्वत: ऊसतोड महिला कामगारांनी घेतले आहेत.
SOPPECOM with the support of Women’s Fund Asia is implementing a capacity-building project for amplifying voices of women cane cutters in Beed and Hingoli districts. As part of this project, this documentary has been created. Women cane cutters have shared various experiences from the sugarcane fields, highlighting their struggles, issues, and demands. This video attempts to convey their stories through their own voices. Notably, the footage and photos in this video have been captured by the women cane cutters themselves.
